How the Rating is Computed
Each day is assessed at sunrise for New Delhi (IST) using four traditional Panchang factors:
- Paksha — Shukla (waxing moon) is generally preferred; Krishna (waning) is neutral unless a strong nakshatra applies.
- Tithi — Tithis 2, 3, 5, 7, 10, 11, and 13 are considered auspicious. Tithis 4, 9, and 14 (Rikta tithis) and Amavasya are avoided.
- Nakshatra — Rohini, Pushya, Hasta, Revati, Punarvasu, Chitra, Swati, Anuradha, Shravana, Dhanishta, and the three Uttara nakshatras are considered favourable. Ashlesha, Jyeshtha, and Mula are avoided.
- Panchang Yoga — Inauspicious yogas (e.g. Vishkambha, Atiganda) can downgrade a Favourable day to Neutral.

What does 'Avoid' mean?
Days marked Avoid typically fall on Rikta Tithis (4th, 9th, 14th of each paksha), Amavasya (new moon), or when the Moon is in a nakshatra traditionally considered sensitive for new beginnings — such as Ashlesha, Jyeshtha, or Mula.
